Morris

Morris designed Strawberry Thief after watching thrushes steal fruit from his Kelmscott garden. He hated industrial production and started Morris & Co partly as protest — every pattern hand-blocked, every dye traditional, every textile a slow object in a fast century. He was also a socialist who wrote utopian novels. The patterns are the most polite version of his politics.
