Sidney Hall
sidney hall was a london engraver who in 1824 produced urania's mirror — a card-set teaching astronomy through small punched holes for stars, held to candlelight so the constellations would glow. thirty-two cards covered the northern sky and were sold in a slipcase as a self-teaching kit. it became one of the most successful astronomical popularisations of the regency era and is the reason english children of the 1820s could name the bigger constellations. one of the plates is in the catalog.
