Moriz Jung
moriz jung made postcards for the wiener werkstätte — cartoonish, sharp-edged scenes of viennese cafe life that pulled folk woodcut into the modern era. born in moravia, trained in vienna, he was one of the workshop's most prolific contributors before joining the austro-hungarian army; he died at thirty in galicia in 1915. the postcards are minor in scale and major in influence — they fed directly into the european comic line that came after. three of his cafe scenes are in the catalog.
