Plum Garden at Kameido — Hiroshige, framed
Utagawa Hiroshige's 1857 woodblock print, taken from the Art Institute of Chicago's CC0 high-resolution scan, framed and ready to hang.
From One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, completed shortly before Hiroshige's death in 1858, Plum Garden at Kameido frames a single plum tree branch against a red field — Edo's plum garden as a graphic essay rather than a faithful view. Van Gogh would later copy it directly. The composition is still, unprecedented for its era, and quietly modern.
This is reproduced from the Art Institute of Chicago's CC0 open-access scan at full resolution, printed on archival fine art paper and framed in solid wood.
